What is Field Turf
Field Turf
As many of you know, this will be the first year Ohio State plays home games on a new surface: Field Turf. Many colleges are going to this synthetic field, which is much less maintenance than real grass, and more durbale, while not having the affect that astro turf used to have by causing injuries. I've heard a few people claim to know what it is. Someone even said they heard it was a mix of real and fake grass. Well, according to Wikipedia, here is what field turf is:
FieldTurf is an artificial turf composed of monofilament polyethylene blend fibers tufted into a polypropylene backing with a mixture of silica sand and cryogenic rubber infill. FieldTurf was patented in 1982.
I don't know about you, but that doesn't tell me a whole lot.
